On November 9, 2013, we boarded a plane in Ukraine to head back to the United States after two weeks of teaching and ministering at YWAM’s Kyiv base. Less than two weeks later, the country broke out in revolt.
Ukraine is very near and dear to our hearts. It is, in fact, where Tanie’s heritage originates on his mother’s side. We have been ministering and building relationships there that have become akin to family since 2007, and not a day goes by that we haven’t turned to the news or Skype, or Facebook, or email, keeping close to the events taking place (usually long before the news is circulated here in the U.S.).
One of the outstanding reports that we’ve received from Kyiv is how, right from the start, around-the-clock prayer began, and Christians set out for the streets to share the Gospel to turn the hearts of the people to God, that they would call on the Name of Jesus for the salvation of their country. We asked some friends if they could send us photos or video of how that was taking place, and it wasn’t long afterwards that we received this video. It serves to give testimony of what’s happening in Ukraine–the story that the media isn’t readily broadcasting–that reveals the church in action, engaging in spiritual battles of warfare in the land.
