May 9 is usually a day of celebration in Ukraine. It’s Victory Day, marking the 1945 capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union. This year, however, the celebrations have been curtailed, and the spirits of heaviness and apprehension overshadow the people.
Ukrainians are desperate for a move of God.
And in publishing this post, I am choosing to deny the temptation to fear the giants in the land and focus all my faith on His might to overcome the fiercest of enemies. I’m praying and believing for the miracle that Ukraine needs and seeks. I hope you’ll join me.
No Coincidence
I wasn’t mindful of tomorrow being Victory Day when I prayed for Ukraine earlier this morning, but I was reminded of it later when I received a friend’s message. During my prayer time, though, the Holy Spirit called to mind an email I had received back in January from the very same friend I heard from today (I don’t believe that was a coincidence). In her January email, our friend shared about a prayer team member there in Kyiv who…
“[G]ot a very strong understanding of two angels fighting over Ukraine. One is an angel of Ukraine from God fighting with the spirit of Cingis [Genghis] Khan.”
That news caused me to do some research, and after confirming my findings with our friend, it became a focal point of my personal prayers for Ukraine. Today, God impressed upon me that I am to share the key to those findings with others in an effort to raise up specifically targeted prayers for this beloved nation.
Searching for Discernment
My search for discernment led me back to the thirteenth century and:
- The Genghis Khan Dynasty
- The Battle of the Kalka River
- The Golden Horde/Mongol Yoke
The particular point that caught my attention focused on the iron-fisted strength of the Mongols. They were fierce, destructive and controlling. And the fact that the Mongols permitted Russians to rule their own people so long as the Mongols approved of (and controlled) those leaders is exactly the power that Moscow has had and means to have in Kyiv today!
This seems to be a significant key to the prayer team member’s vision in January. I believe it gives historical clarity to a stronghold that rules Ukraine and reveals the long forgotten head that must be severed from the giant that established oppression over the nation centuries ago.
Will you go to spiritual battle and pray boldly for Ukraine?
Pray that:
- the spirit of Genghis Khan be defeated
- the ancient Mongol stronghold be destroyed
- Ukraine places herself under the rule and protection of the One true God and Jesus Christ, His Son
- on May 25 Ukraine will be free to elect her own leaders
- nothing will hinder the establishment of the new government they seek
Let’s help Ukraine celebrate Victory Day once again!
